Project Description:

CWP Constructors is pleased to have been award our first contract with the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. The Paulson Bridge is located on Highway 3, approximately 50 km West of Castlegar and 25 km East of Christina Lake. The scope of work for this project includes jacking the bridge superstructure, bearings replacement, demolition of bridge deck overhangs, reconstruction of new overhangs complete with bridge parapets and bicycle parapet railings, installation of deck drains, deck joints replacement, concrete deck overlay, wing wall modifications, roadway drainage improvements, approach asphalt paving and installation of concrete roadside barriers.

Lake Louise Campground Bridge Rehabilitations

Project Description:

Consists of two bridges located in the Lake Louise Campground over the Bow river. The work consist of surface removal, partial depth concrete repairs on the deck curbs and underside of the bridge, deck waterproofing, paving, cleaning and sealing of curbs, abutment and piers, pressure injection of cracks in the underside of the girders.

Southern Alberta Bridge Rehabilitations

Project Description:

Consists of 3 contracts for the rehabilitation of four bridge structures. Two structures near Granum AB, one near Carmangay AB and one near Taber AB. The work included surface removal, partial depth concrete repairs, waterproofing, paving, cleaning and sealing of curbs.

Southwest Calgary Ring Road – Bridge 22 Project

Project Description:

This project is bridge 22 on the Southwest Calgary Ring Road. The bridge has four lanes and spans 258 meters over Fish Creek including four Y-shaped piers with hammerhead pier caps. CWP’s scope of work for this project consisted of the substructure construction which required 2,500 m3 of concrete. The project involved the installation of associated wood and steel formwork, reinforcing steel, and concrete placement for both abutments and all piers. Working together with the client and accommodating their work in and around the site was key to the success of this project.

Ottertail bridge is a concrete girder three-span, two lane bridge located along the Trans-Canada Highway in Yoho National Park. The scope of work for this project included concrete cold milling, partial depth repairs on the bridge deck and substructure, and construction of cast-in-place concrete barriers.

This project is located along the Bow Valley Parkway in Banff National Park. Johnston Creek bridge is a concrete box girder, while Baker Creek and Corral Creek Bridges are steel girder bridges. Scope of work for all three bridges includes concrete cold milling, demo and installation of deck overhang, approach slabs and deck joints.

Athabasca River Bridge (East) Bridge Rehabilitation (Jasper National Park)

Project Description:

This two-span, two-lane bridge replacement took place along Highway 16 in Jasper National Park over the Athabasca River. The scope of work included the removal and replacement of concrete box girders and bearing pads. It also included modifications to the abutments and piers, removal and replacement of approach slabs, construction of a new reinforced concrete deck, cast-in-place concrete barriers, installation of bridge rail and approach asphalt. This project was completed in two stages utilizing single-lane alternating traffic.

CWP completed the Athabasca River Bridge (West) in 2016.

Project Description:

This project is located along the Trans-Canada Highway in Banff National Park and involved the installation of a temporary detour bridge and then the rehabilitation of two two-lane bridges over an animal crossover.  The scope of work includes a full detour of Highway 1, concrete cold milling, demo and installation of cast-in-place concrete barriers, deck overhang, approach slabs, and deck joints.  The work also includes partial depth repairs to the deck, concrete overlay, modifications to the abutments and piers, installation of bridge rail, approach asphalt, and bearing pad replacement.  After the bridge rehabilitations are complete, the detour road and bridge will be removed and the area restored.

This contract contains two bridge rehabilitations along Highway 16 in Jasper National Park.  The Fiddle River Bridge is a concrete girder three-span, two-lane bridge and the Snaring River Bridge is a concrete girder six-span, two-lane bridge.  The scopes of work included concrete cold milling, deck overhang demo, and partial depth repairs to the deck as well as deck strengthening using external stirrups.  It also included partial depth repairs to the piers, replacement of deck joints, concrete overlay, cast-in-place concrete barriers, installation of bridge rail, approach asphalt, girder jacking and bearing pad replacement.

This included 950 m2 of concrete placed on a 3H:1V slope. In addition CWP performed the concrete works on one downstream road crossing
